The BFA’s Scottish Franchise Week will take place from 16th to 20th May, with events in Glasgow and Edinburgh. HSBC and Platinum Wave will be sponsoring the week, which will offer networking opportunities and seminars to help raise the profile of franchising in Scotland.
The flagship event is the Scottish Franchise Business Breakfast on the 18th May at the Radisson Blu, Glasgow. The keynote speaker will be the former Scottish Labour MP, Jim Murphy. Other speakers joining him are Steve Bramley from Rainbow International, and Noel Gallacher from Dyno Scotland and winner of the BFA/HSBC Franchisee of the Year Customer Service Franchisee 2015.
During the week there will be specialist seminars, as well as educational events for both prospective franchisors and franchisees, on the benefits and opportunities that franchising can offer.
According to the current BFA survey, franchising contributed £800m to the Scottish economy, an increase of 14 per cent in the past two years.
Pip Wilkins, chief executive of the BFA commented: “There is a superb franchise support network in Scotland with expert consultants, lawyers, accountants and bankers who have the expertise to help both franchisors and franchisees succeed in their businesses. With the level of confidence in Scotland and the upward trend, there is no reason why the sector cannot achieve or even exceed £1bn in value by 2020.”
