The BFA Scottish Franchise Week 2018 will take place in Glasgow and for the first time include a Franchise Opportunities event. Now in its 14th year, the week hosts a range of educational and social events to highlight the opportunities that franchising offers.
According to the BFA, the Scottish franchise sector will be worth approximately £1bn by 2020. Pip Wilkins, chief executive of the BFA, said that the franchise sector in Scotland is thriving with a mix of home-grown businesses, as well as the big name international brands.
Educational seminars will be held on Tuesday, 24th April with the Prospective Franchisee Seminar at the offices of Wright Johnston & Mackenzie LLP and the Prospective Franchisor Seminar at Harper Macleod LLP. A social event in the evening will take place at the Mediterranean bar and restaurant, Arta, and will include a traditional Scottish ceilidh and charity raffle.
A Business Breakfast will be held on Wednesday, 25th April at the Grand Central Hotel, offering attendees networking opportunities with the Scottish business community. The keynote speaker is Iain MacRitchie, a Glasgow entrepreneur. His career has seen him turnaround and transform 18 companies, as well as leading change in organisations with 50 to 5,000 employees. MacRitchie set up his Charitable Foundation in Glasgow in 2006 to provide support and advice for education and welfare initiatives, developing the MCR Pathways mentoring and talent development programme.
Following the breakfast and new to this year’s event, will be Business Speed Sessions, where experts will share their knowledge and insights to business success. The one-day Franchise Opportunities exhibition will be held at the Grand Central Hotel on the Wednesday, where attendees can meet franchisors and learn about their franchise opportunities.
