The Australian hairdressing brand, Just Cuts, has launched in the UK and opened its first kiosk salon at the intu Lakeside shopping centre, Grays, Essex.
While launching an Australian brand into a new market can present challenges, the founder and chief executive, Denis McFadden, says that the tried-and-tested systems and processes that have seen Just Cuts flourish in Australia and New Zealand for 27 years will help guarantee its success in the UK.
The kiosk salon in the UK is a different design concept to a traditional Just Cuts and is suitable for a standalone compact site. The kiosk offers a range of services for all family members, including style cuts, blow waves and hair straightening.
McFadden explains the Just Cuts concept: “Our fixed pricing, no appointment and no request system is a simple solution for our clients. Once clients check-in to the queue, they’re able to roam the shopping centre until they receive a text message to notify them that they’re next in line. Who wouldn’t love that kind of service?
“We also guarantee that all our stylists are fully-qualified professionals, eliminating uncertainty from the process.” Just Cuts adds that it is committed to paying all its stylists the equivalent of those in Australia, which is an attractive benefit for its employees.
Its outlets use its range of haircare products, JUSTICE Professional, which are exclusively available from its salons. The products include everyday shampoos and conditioners, anti-dandruff and dry scalp treatments, toning products, nourishing leave-in treatments, as well as a range of hair styling waxes and sprays.
Just Cuts says it currently has 205 salons across Australia and New Zealand and over 3,000 in its stylist network performing over 100,000 style cuts per week.
$6 style cut
McFadden, the founder, ran his first ever “no appointment, $6 style cut” promotion at his humble Sydney salon, receiving an outstanding response from clients. It was on this basic fixed price initiative that the idea of Just Cuts was born. The first franchised salon was opened in the suburb of Engadine, New South Wales.
