Encouraging Women into Franchising (EWIF) whose mission is to educate, inspire and empower women considering the opportunities available in franchising, has announced the winners of its NatWest EWIF Awards 2020.
The annual awards celebrating the achievements of women in franchising, along with a mini conference, were held on 21st October at its first virtual event.
There were nine award categories with one Overall Woman in Franchising 2020 award, chosen from one of the category winners and presented by Pip Wilkins, chief executive of the BFA. This year’s title went to Louise Evans of Revive!
Evans who won the category of Woman Employee of the Year, sponsored by What Franchise, joined the SMART vehicle repair franchise in 2014 as a bookkeeper and as her dedication to diligence shone through she was promoted to its management team.

New Woman Franchisor of the Year, sponsored by Daisy First Aid
Becky Hoare, Pop Up Play Village
Pop Up Play Village franchised in February 2018, after Hoare only launched the business in 2017, and now has eight franchisees. In 2019, she developed EYFS and KS1 curriculum planning to enable her to take Pop Up Play Village’s into schools and nurseries.

Lucy Campbell, Right at Home UK
After joining Right at Home five years ago, Campbell used her experience and values-based leadership style to drive a culture of trust. In 2019, in recognition of her commitment to the company, she was promoted to chief operating officer.
New Woman Franchisee of the Year, sponsored by NatWest
Fiona Cochrane, Little Movers
Cochrane overcame her severe anxiety, to follow her heart and become a franchisee of Little Movers. Her classes are sold out every term and she has a waiting list for care homes wanting to host sessions.

Catharine Chalton, Home Instead Senior Care
An early adopter of the Home Instead franchise, Chalton opened her business at the start of 2007. In 2019, she employed 180 staff, achieved a turnover of £2.8m, and received an Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission.

Rachel Fay, Little Learners
Aged 29, Fay is the managing director and franchisor of Little Learners. 2019 was a massive year for the company, as it launched as a global brand into Australia.

Suzie McCafferty, Platinum Wave One of the UK’s most prominent franchise consultants with nearly 20 years experience, McCafferty is also a successful franchisor with two international brands of her own. McCafferty is also starting a new role in 2021 as EWIF Regional Chair for its new Scottish region.

Jenni Dunman, Daisy First Aid Chief executive of Daisy First Aid, Dunman recently launched a new success mindset business. In 2019, her thriving network had 97 franchisees, training around 100,000 parents a year.
Ambassador of the Year, sponsored by Boddy Matthews
Kieran James, Stryde James runs Stryde, offering accountancy, training and business plan support to the franchise sector. In 2019 he became Regional Chair for the North East. A true EWIF Ambassador he also supported other Regional Chairs, attended 10 EWIF regional events, and the awards and conference.
