Kung Fu Schools, which teaches children from 4-12, has been launched by Paul Hawkes and Alan Paterson with the support of the singer and TV celebrity, Peter Andre, who has a stake in the business.
Explaining the school’s aims, Hawkes offers reassurance to franchise candidates by explaining: “Contrary to popular belief Kung Fu is not about fighting and aggression.
“There is a strict code of ethics that means it should be used solely for self-defence and this is something we emphasise in all our classes.
“The real benefits of Kung Fu are the character traits it instills in the children, such as greater self-confidence, respect for others, more self-esteem and being able to focus on goals.
“We will be looking for franchisees with a passion for working with children and making a difference in their lives.”
Over the past seven years Kung Fu Schools has been running five full-time schools training hundreds of adults and children.
The founders have combined experience of 32 years teaching and coaching and have spent years training with the world’s top martial arts experts.
Hawkes continues: “We have developed a formula for our schools that forms the basis of a highly profitable and sustainable business. We now want to take the concept national by inviting franchisees to join us on our journey.
“I would stress that previous martial arts experience is not necessary, as full training will be given by our expert instructors. What is more important is having the right attitude, a commitment to work hard, and a desire to work with children.”

Andre and his children have trained with Kung Fu Schools over the past two years. “I have seen at first hand how it has benefited us as a family,” he reports. “I was therefore delighted to accept when Paul and Alan invited me to invest in the business.
“I am a real Kung Fu fan and have seen my children grow in confidence and self-esteem since beginning training. They absolutely love it and look forward to their sessions. It will be great to take the passion that Paul and Alan have for training and coaching children to a wider audience.”
Franchisees will receive everything they need to set up and run their own Kung Fu School. This includes expert tuition in Kung Fu from the school’s expert team of instructors, operations manuals, equipment kit, marketing/advertising materials and business development support. The school’s unique software package is also included for maintaining the member database and taking bookings.
Andre will also be helping franchisees by promoting the brand nationally through social and traditional media, as well as videos and making personal appearances.
To give franchisees the best chance of success Kung Fu Schools has also assembled a team of external experts to offer help and support in franchising, finance, marketing, and business development. They include Platinum Wave (franchise consultancy), Dennis & Turnbull (franchise accountants), NEST Management (martial arts business consultancy) and Atlas Mapping (territory mapping).
Kung Fu Schools, based at Crawley, near Gatwick, has schools at Croydon, Sutton, Peterborough and Hastings.
Franchise fees start at £10,995 according to the territory, plus the working capital that will be required to grow and develop the business.
