Marugame Udon, the Japanese noodles and tempura restaurant brand, has announced a master franchise agreement with Karali Group, a move that will accelerate its growth with the development of new restaurants across the UK and Ireland.
Within the agreement, Karali Group have also acquired and assumed operation of the existing Marugame Udon UK estate, transitioning the brand from corporate-owned to a fully franchised UK model.
Karali Group said it has over four decades of experience in the food and beverage sector and is known for its proven, long-term track record in multi-brand franchising, owning and operating hospitality brands in the UK and U.S. markets, and will bring its extensive experience to the expansion of Marugame Udon.

Marugame Udon added that the managed transition is being led by Sam McIntyre, interim chief executive and finance director, who will support the handover before moving to a new leadership role with Marugame Udon U.S.
