Co-op has opened its second franchised store in Wales at Rhodfa Fadog, Morriston, Swansea with its franchise partner Universal Service Stations Ltd., (USS), who launched the first franchise outlet in Wales in Bridgend.
A new purpose built store, creating 17 local jobs, will serve and support the local community with everyday essentials; in addition to fresh, healthy and chilled produce, food-to-go, ready meals and Fairtrade produce. The outlet also includes an in-store bakery and Costa Coffee Express.
Ramesh Nadarajah, director of USS, said: “We are delighted to be opening our latest store following the success of our store that we launched together earlier this year in Parc Derwen. Co-op offers great quality and value, and our team is keen to start to become part of local community life – working to serve and support Morriston residents, conveniently.”
USS adds that it is scheduling a third store later this year for Cardiff.
Co-op says the store has a ‘soft plastic’ recycle unit to enable the community to recycle items such as crisp packets, bread bags and yogurt pots – ensuring all Co-op’s own food packaging is recyclable either through local authority kerbside collections or in-store.
Cameron Price, Co-op store manager, said: “The whole team is delighted to have the opportunity to launch the newest Co-op store in Wales. Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life and we have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve our community.
“The store also has a focus on delivering value, with member price savings across a wide range of everyday essentials so that the people who own our business, our member-owners, benefit every time they shop.”
• Co-op highlights its commitment to support UK farmers, growers and suppliers, with all of its fresh and frozen meat and poultry, including in its ready meals, pies and freshly prepared sandwiches, 100 per cent British.
