Musical celebrations for 21 years at Rhythm Time

Kathy Doolan

Rhythm Time founder, Kathy Doolan, is thrilled to be celebrating 21 years of her company which today engages 11,000 children in weekly music classes across the UK and Ireland.

Originally a music teacher, Doolan always enjoyed music and after becoming a mum she naturally used singing and music as a way of communicating with her daughter and was amazed to see how it helped her daughter’s speech and general development.

Having a desire to share the benefits and fun of early music making with other parents and children, Doolan developed the Rhythm Time programme and founded her first class in Solihull, West Midlands.

During the last two decades the business has grown to 37 franchisees which between them has seen over 200,000, babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers enjoying its weekly classes.

Rhythm Time says that each session is thoughtfully curated using music to facilitate early child development and to nurture a love of music and singing.

Classes range from baby sessions that stimulate baby’s vision and hearing, with lots of tummy time to improve muscle tone and flexibility, to classes for pre-schoolers who sing, conduct, read musical signs and play simple pieces of music.

The company highlights that Doolan has collaborated with the London College of Music (Junior Department) and that the content of each Rhythm Time course is in line with the government’s Early Years Foundation Stage.

Proud founder
Doolan said: “I am absolutely delighted with the success of Rhythm Time. What started as a dream has now become the passion of nearly 40 dedicated franchisees all over the country.

“I am so proud of our franchise family and have been overwhelmed by their support, enthusiasm and ongoing success. To nurture young children’s musical development is an honour, and I hope that families in the UK continue to enjoy attending our classes for another 21 years to come.”

To celebrate Doolan’s achievement each individual franchisee hosted a national week-long timetable of music and fun in honour of its founder.
